Roof Inspections - Certified Hagg Roof Inspectors
We inspect: composition (Asphalt), wood, metal, slate, tile, and fiber cement roofs.
Inspection Process:
- Assessing proper equipment needed to thoroughly inspect your roof. (ie. ladders, fall protection, pitch gauges and tape measures).
- Make ground observations (for example, which direction is the house facing, anything hanging over the roof or in the case of wind and hail damge any other parts of the house been affected).
- Roof observations (material type, field exposure, quality of installation, condition of roof and accessories).
- Diagram of the roof (take all roof measurements, locations and sizes of accessories, photograph of important information).
- Report findings (a report will be written and submitted to the person(s) that need to be notified of findings).
Causes of Roof Damage
Weather Damage - Hail - sizes of hail that are needed to cause damage are:
1” hail - Can cause damage to light weight compoistion shingles
1.25” hail - Can cause damage to heavy weight composition shingles and wood shingles
1.5” hail - Can cause damage to medium shakes and clay tiles
1.75” hail - Can cause damage to concrete tiles
2.5” hail - Can cause damage to metal panels
Wind - occurs at windward eaves, leaward ridges, windward rakes, windward corners and to shingles not properly fastened.
Long term exposure - This is the normal aging of a roof due to the everyday exposure to the: sun, wind, rain, snow, heat, and cold.
Mechanical Damage
Intentional - Damage that was caused by a person(s) with fraudulent intentions in mind.
Unintentional - Damage done accidentaly to a roof by a person(s) during installation or any time after.
Installation Defects - When the damage to your roof was caused by improper installation procedures.
Manufacturing Defects - Damage caused by problem with shingles during manufacturing process.
